I love Japan

Hi Folks,

in the moment Im still in Tokyo, because Im waiting for my chinese visa to arrive.
Although express visa application it will take one week. Because of that I will spend 10 days in Tokyo and it is a really good place to wait. Everyday you see something new and weird. Once you think you understood japanese life, the next surprise is around the corner.

Here are a few examples of Japanese Life:

Japanese People do not eat on the street and because of that they do not create rubbish on the street. The streets are really clean, but finding a trashcan is hard !
People eat of cause in restaurants, but no sausages or burgers are sold and eaten on the street.
Once I saw a place where you can eat *just standing* but look at the photo.
First I thought they do something naughty behind the curtain, but they were just eating....

The thing I love about Japan is that you have a heated toilet seat !
Has anybody thought of the idea importing that to Europe. Once on the toilet seat
you never want to leave again. On the keyboard next to the toilet, you have
various options, music, flushing sound, a fan for drying your behind and water cleaning !

Near the harbour I took a wonderful photo, The harbour bridge, the statue of Liberty and
in the middle the Tokyo Eifel Tower. Thats no theme park ! Thats normal Tokyo !

As mentioned earlier, I think living in Japan is cheaper then in Germany, but one big exception are fruits. This honey water melon is just 50 Euro or 75 USD.

Another thing to get used to are people wearing masks. My estimation is that every 20th person on the street is wearing a mask. I heard two explanations. 1. people have allergies and want to be protected 2. people have a cold, they do not want to spread the illness.

Plastic Food. In nearly every restaurant you will find plastic display food and you can order by just pointing at the plastic food ! The plastic stuff looks so real, but all fake !

Especially in Tokyo-Akihabara you will find Maid Cafes were Maids serve drinks. They adress their customers as Master and are of cause dressed as maids.
I was not able to take a fantastic photo yet, but during their lunch brake they walk the street like that.

I will stay in Tokyo until May 09th and if I think I forgot something extrem I will let you know.

Yokohama - Chiba Soccergame 3-0

After I visited the Seoul Stadium of the first game 2002 World Cup, it was time for the Stadium of the final game, which Germany lost against Brasil 2-0. Like in Seoul the Stadium was kind of empty again, as seen in the video ( 70.000 capacity)

Free Sumo Practice in Tokyo 29.04.2008

The day after I arrived in Tokyo there was a free Sumo Practice to watch. There are only 3 Sumo Events per Year in Tokyo, so I was lucky to see one.
